Photo: yes or no?
May 2nd, 2005 by Nancy…Yes.
I’ve posted my profile (both with and without a photo) to on-line dating sites before, and I always receive a much better response to the ‘visually enhanced’ profiles.
The fact that the photo is the capstone of a profile is superficial, but it’s also logical. I mean, I’d like to believe that a person could find love based on the words alone (someone with the same likes and dislikes, similar values and interests…) but the fact remains that if that person doesn’t like the look of a potential mate, the deal falls through.
So what makes a good photo? Here are three basic tips:
1. It should be of you. You might have Tom Cruise’s nose, but that doesn’t mean you can substitute a photo of Mr. Top Gun for one of you.
2. It should be a clear shot. No sexy ‘hair in the eyes’ poses if you have long hair, etc.
3. It should have good lighting. Dramatic, shadowy shots are cool, but they obscure the subject matter.
