The Sneaky Dating Rules (Psst - Girls Only!)
August 31st, 2005 by wendelinGuys will try harder if they know you’re playing the field
Consider this: Would you fight harder for a girl’s hand if you were pitted against 24 rival suitors? Of course you would, because guys love to win, a truth that became all too evident on The Bachelorette. Women everywhere can take a pointer from this show: Namely, letting a date know he’s not the only guy in the picture. Drop a hint that you’re still comparison shopping with a sweet, “I really like you, but I don’t think either of us is ready for a completely exclusive relationship,” then watch him double his efforts to wow you.
Tempt him with your contacts. Allude to people you know who might be able to help him in his career or hobbies.
Pretend to have tickets for whatever he’s interested in – theatre, sports, anything that leads to that crucial follow up call.
Be on the move. Instead of staying at one restaurant for a whole evening, plan a progressive dinner: have appetizers at one place, then move somewhere else for dinner and to a third place for dessert. Just be sure to scout out spots that aren’t too far from one another; you don’t want to feel like you spent most of the night in the car. If your stops are within walking distance of each other, all the better.
Ask him for his expertise in something that interests you. Ask for help and flatter him mercilessly – men like that.
Resolve to put yourself out there and get involved with anything that interests you. There are probably things you’ve always wanted to do – try some of them now. List them down and do one each week. Activity leads to activity, and this will help to make you self-sufficient – an incredibly attractive trait.
