Dating Myth vs. Dating Reality

March 15th, 2006 by Nancy

Here’s the meat of a recent dating article by Kimberly Dawn Neumann:

Myth: There’s no such thing as love at first sight.
Reality: Actually, there is… and it happens more often for men than for women because men are much more visual.

Myth: Men should always pay for a first date.
Reality: If a woman invites you, you are her guest and she pays.

Myth: Single women rearrange their schedule to see a guy they like.
Reality: Men are more likely to change their patterns and habits to be available for women.

Myth: If a guy doesn’t immediately show his interest, he doesn’t really like you.
Reality: The reverse is more likely — if a guy doesn’t want to mess things up, he’s more likely to move slowly.

Myth: Play hard-to-get to land a man.
Reality: When it comes to dating, there are no hard-and-fast rules to follow.

Myth: It’s always a mistake to date someone at work.
Reality: Dating a co-worker is often just fine, as long as you’re smart about it.

Myth: Sex is just an animal urge for men.
Reality: Men tend to regard sex as more intimate than women do because they feel they’ve ‘earned’ it.

Myth: Women can’t deal when a relationship ends.
Reality: Studies show that three out of four people who become extremely upset and take drastic measures post-break-up are men.
