Tips for Your Profile Picture

December 21st, 2007 by Joyce Priddy

Chances are you have profiles on the Internet for others to view. The ideal hope is that someone will see your picture and your interests and introduce themselves to you. In a perfect world this would happen all the time. But you can increase your chances of someone nice talking to you that is also single if you have a good profile picture.

The first thing with profile pictures is that if someone just has their face it probably means that they are obese or unattractive. While this is not always the case, it is the normal assumption of many single Internet surfers. Avoid pictures that look like a mug shot for your driver’s license, no matter how cute they are.

Find a picture that is in a natural setting. While the glamour shots and professional pictures are very nice, chances are they are not how you are on a normal, daily basis. Do you want to get dressed to the nines every single time you go out on a date? Get a friend or relative to take a few pictures of you in normal setting such as sitting at your computer, reading a book, taking a walk or even cooking a meal. You can take some nice shots in your yard as well.

Have several pictures available to use for your public profiles. Once a month, change the pictures. This keeps your profile interesting and you’re not stuck with the same old image all of the time. You are versatile and dynamic on many levels. Your pictures can reflect this part of your personality. Most importantly don’t post pictures of someone else. You’ll only tick people off when they find out what you really look like and that you were dishonest.
