Many people have the misconception that because you are single that you are not busy and have no other responsibilities in life. You don’t have to worry about the household chores because it’s just you living in the home. You can catch them up anytime. You don’t have to worry about taking time away from things to listen to them two hours on the phone because you don’t have a partner to talk to when you are at home. You don’t have to worry about talking to them for four hours on a PMB because you’re probably logged onto the computer because you’re lonely and have nothing else to do.

I don’t even have to mention names or suggest names for the above situations. If you are one of the people that assume that your single friends are lonely and live a boring life without you, please take a moment to think again. Single people have real life commitments and responsibilities. Just as you are tired when you get home from work, so are your single friends. Just as you sometimes don’t feel like talking on the phone, so do your single friends. Just because someone is single does not mean that they are not human, busy or have responsibilities.

Singles don’t sign on the Internet just because they have nothing else to do and are looking for companionship. While this is true part of the time, it’s not the majority of time. They are busy reading emails, looking up reviews on the latest movies they want to watch, getting a chance to finally watch the episodes of their favorite television shows that they missed, reading their favorite online columns or even relaxing with an online game. Just because a single person is signed into the PMB does not mean that you have to immediately message them and then get offended that they don’t answer right away.

Yes, singles do have a life. Yes, singles can be busy. Keep this in mind when you are trying to fill up every waking spare moment that your single friends and relatives have. They’ll greatly appreciate it.
