Which is Best: Free or Paid Dating Sites?
February 20th, 2008 by KathyThere are many internet dating sites to choose from. For someone who is new to dating sites, they may be very confused about where to start. Should you try a free or a paid dating site first?
In my opinion, I would start with a free dating site, a site where you never have to pay for any feature, nor registration. This way you get a feel for how things work before spending money. You can experiment with your profile and pictures to see what is working in your favor.
Some people are shy about corresponding online. A free dating site gives you experience with socializing through instant messaging, email, live chat or whatever the particular site offers. If you aren’t doing too well with corresponding for free, why pay until you increase your skills a bit?
Of course, consideration has to be given to what you are seeking. Different sites have different dynamics and features. Some sites lean toward developing more serious relationships and some are more casual.
Most sites have free registration, but have limitations where you can view profiles, but not correspond with anyone until you are a paying member. Some limit you to a wink or an ice breaker, which alerts someone you are interested, but not much more. The limitations may prevent you from getting a good feel for the site.
Just like test driving a car before you buy, I think it’s wise to test drive a free dating site, if you are new to the experience, before spending money. Once you get a hang of things, you can try another site.
