Too Busy to Date?

March 10th, 2008 by Kathy

Are you constantly thinking about how you would like to meet a “special someone”, but find yourself not even having time to date, much less forming a relationship? If so, it’s time to get down to business.

You’ve heard the saying, “today is the first day of the rest of your life”. Those words hold a lot of truth. If you aren’t satisfied with where you are today, it’s time to make some changes and put your priorities in order. If you want to date and eventually have a relationship, it takes active participation. If you don’t have time to date, how would you ever have quality time for a relationship?

Think about what your long-term goals are. If having a special someone in your life is a top priority, then take actions that make it a top priority. Sure, you may love your job and be a workaholic, but how is that working for you in meeting your other goals? How long would any relationship last if you are constantly telling someone you are busy? Soon, they will feel you aren’t truly that interested. Think about what you truly have to offer before allowing someone to think you have genuine interest. If you aren’t willing to make time, don’t get involved!

You have to create time. You have to change your routine. Set a goal of giving yourself a couple hours a week to put yourself in an environment where you can meet the type of person you are seeking. If you are the intellectual type, go to a bookstore or library. If you are artsy, spend an afternoon at a museum. You may not meet your someone special in a short period of time, but with committing to giving yourself this time to “explore”, the chances are in your favor.  If nothing else, you are creating a better balance in your life, which will prepare you, if you meet someone later on.

If not having time is your reason for not fulfilling your dreams, it’s time to take stock of your life and make changes. Otherwise, your life will remain stagnant.
