What ultimately wins, looks or personality when trying to meet people through online dating? I believe, for many, personality is often overlooked and in exchange, they will keep looking until they find someone who has the look they want.
If you read lots of profiles, you’ll often see a preference to height, weight, hair color, etc. We all have preferences and there’s nothing wrong with that, but does personality and character have merit any more? I believe it does, but maybe only with the serious minded – those who are looking for a long-term partner and have the ability to commit to the whole package and not just eye candy.
I’ve known women and men with great personalities who are a bit overweight, yet attractive and have gotten rude insults on dating sites. One woman was even asked why she was on there because a fat woman didn’t deserve to meet anyone. How rude! It’s easy to figure out who was lacking character in this situation!
You have to wonder if internet dating profiles are similar to a candy store. People just browse until they find the kind that visually appeals to them and don’t think about what’s beneath the surface – or even the “nut” that may lie inside that succulent outer covering.
