I don’t know who is familiar with “Sex and the City,” but I would like to call attention to one episode. It’s the one where Burger breaks up with Carrie on a post it note after a steamy night of sex. As you and I all know, that’s not kosher, right?
A brutal break – up that many of us have been through is the one with the guy who is the chicken. Sometimes it happens if you haven’t been dating for a long time and the interest is just lost. I’m pretty sure that the guy with the cold feet is also the one that has the most one night stands and short term relationships. With those, the guy is still the chicken for not saying he’s not interested, just disappearing and not having the respect to tell the other person “never mind.” However, the intimacy isn’t there on a certain level, so the cold feet – not as important.
What’s even worse is the men who are chickens after they have been with you for a long time. I know a few situations where the relationship gets serious, it’s gone on for a good 6 months, then the guy just disappears, never saying anything again. In fact, in one of these situations, not only did the guy break up with the girl and not tell her, but remained to be her “friend.” He never got up the nerve to tell her that they weren’t dating anymore. That’s brutal. And, of course, I’m not just pin pointing the guys. Girls do it too!
So, for all of you who are in a serious relationship – take the responsibility that goes with it. A bad break – up is better than an ignored break up with just leaving and not saying anything. Even if you are a little scared, have cold feet, or squawk like a chicken – own up! You decided on entering a relationship with someone, have the guts to get out of it too.
