It’s Healthier to be Single Than Unhappily Married
April 15th, 2008 by J GNumerous studies have documented the health benefits of being married for both men and women. Married people tend to be healthier and live longer. But according to a new study, the health rewards for being married only apply to couples who are happy. Unhappily married people, according to the study, tend to be less healthy than their single counterparts. What is surprising about this is that it surprises researchers. I think in any situation, the least stressful circumstance is going to be the healthiest. The study only confirms that it doesn’t help anyone to stay in a relationship that is strained.
Whether we are married or single, it’s best to work on our own happiness and not look to others to do it for us. Once we value ourselves, others will too.
