The Personality Test
April 18th, 2008 by Brooke HartOkay, I’ll be honest with you. I hate the personality tests that dating sites have. But, most of the Internet sites that are up and running, and that are more effective, are using a variety of personality tests to help you find your match. While they may not be the perfect solution to finding some sort of soul mate, there are some benefits to getting you started to find someone. However, be careful about how you analyze your situation and what you really want.
If you are busy clicking yes, no, true, false or multiple choice, you might want to start looking instead. Personality tests are great for getting you matches that are compatible with you at a certain level. However, they aren’t going to find you the cream of the crop. In fact, I have a friend who was using one of the best personality test systems out there. He got matched with over 1,000 girls. Believing that each could be a potential soul mate… he dated all of them and ended up still not finding the ‘perfect one’ afterwards.
This is how to approach the personality test. First, be honest about what you put on there. Second, don’t consider it to be the answer to all of your prayers in finding someone. Hopefully, you are more interested in actually building a relationship instead of building the superficialities. The tests may be able to give you an idea of your likes and don’t likes… but they don’t say everything.
So, while you should definitely use your personality tests to get you in the game and to use the process of elimination just a little bit - rely on what you are attracted to as well. Never underestimate your intuition with who you like, dislike or could see yourself getting to know better. Even if you have been framed in a category with ‘who you are’ by the questions, knowing what you like will always take it up another notch.
