Dating from a Distance

May 10th, 2008 by Kathy

Even if you aren’t on a dating site deliberately searching, you may run across someone you really click with on the internet. This can happen unexpectedly and chances are, they won’t live near you.

It seems those we click with often live far away. Distance, among other things, can become an obstacle. Feelings begin to evolve and two people who began corresponding in internet space have the urge to meet in person.

I feel it’s best to deal with reality before getting heavily involved. What if you click as well in person as you do on the internet? Will one or the other be willing to relocate? If not, how can a relationship develop? If one or both people are divorced, relocating may mean choosing between seeing their children or being with you. If different countries are involved, there may be legalities to deal with.

They say love conquers all and in some cases it does. Still, some people may not be willing to deal with the obstacles that would allow a relationship to develop face to face. These should be thought out carefully before getting deeply involved. Both parties should be open and honest from the start about what they are willing to do. It can work out, but it’s dependent on the people involved.
