Where to Meet Other Singles

May 14th, 2008 by Kathy

In a world where there are numerous couples, it’s sometimes difficult to find others who are single. Time may be limited because of jobs and other responsibilities, which can lessen opportunities.

If the places you are going aren’t working out as far as meeting singles, it’s time to change your routine. The first step is getting motivated and opening yourself to new experiences. Don’t do this just to meet singles, but to enhance your life. Any good relationship starts with the one you have with yourself first. Get involved in what you are passionate about. Do something that will help build your self-esteem, your health or your spirit.

Suggestions for where to meet singles:

*  Take a class to learn something new or something you are passionate about. This could be anything from martial arts to oil painting and anything in between.

*  Join a health club. This not only allows you to meet new people, but will help you gain better health and fitness.

*  Flea markets are loaded with people. You never know who you might meet that shares similar interests.

*  Join a book club. You can get to know people in a casual setting and possibly get a deeper glimpse of someone you have your eye on.

*  Get a dog. Walking your dog offers a bit of support while meeting new people in the park or wherever is appropriate.

*  Join a singles group. You may not find “the one”, but at least you will be around other singles who share your experiences of being single.

*  Get involved in a sport, whether as a spectator or a participant. This can expose you to many new and interesting people.

Sometimes the problem isn’t about not being around enough people, but not stepping out when we are around them. Learn to step out of your comfort zone a bit. Smile often. Speak with friendliness and confidence. Put more focus on what you do when you are around people and the place might not matter so much.
