The bar is the last place that any single person serious about finding a mate should look. We all know what most people are doing in the bar other than drinking. If hooking up for meaningless flings is what you’re after then you’re certainly in the right place. However, if you need something with a little more stamina and meaning, don’t waste your time in a nightclub.

The best place to go in hopes of meeting someone new is a place you actually enjoy. There is really no sense in going somewhere like a car rally to meet someone if you have zero interest in cars beyond getting from point A to point B. Likewise, don’t expect to enjoy the types you meet at golf resort if you couldn’t care less about the sport.

Try something more out there such as an indie film festival or auditions for a play at the local theatre. Not only does it give you something intriguing to discuss, it guarantees that anyone you may meet will share some of your interests. Museums, zoos and concert halls are all outstanding places to meet someone that certainly doesn’t fall into the bar category.

Let your friends fix you up. That may sound like a nightmare to some people but your close friends know you well. Take a chance and see just how well. You just might be surprised by the choice a friend would make for you. It certainly can’t hurt. After all, if you know what it is that you don’t want, what have you got to lose?
