When Pictures Aren’t Working
May 22nd, 2008 by Brooke HartThis is my advice to anyone who decides to date online. Don’t put up bad pictures. I know that you have probably heard the recommendation from others, as well as dating advice from the ‘experts’ who tell you to pay attention with the pictures because it is the first impression.
I’m not just saying this for those who are already aware that a clean, cut picture needs to be in place. I’m saying this for those that “think” they have a clean cut picture, but they don’t. I tell you, some of the pictures that I’ve seen are repulsive.
For instance, if you are hairy, overweight or are not photogenic…please don’t paste a picture up online that has you only in your underwear and expect anyone to respond. What you are looking for is first impressions…not bad impressions.
And along those lines, don’t put up a picture of when you are in high school, then put your age as 43. It’s just really not fair.
And for those that are familiar with photo shop, don’t take off the 20 pounds, try to give yourself bigger boobs or more hair on your head. It’s going to be just as ineffective and…trust me… it won’t end with a second date. That is, unless you plan on looking that way by the time you meet.
So, for all of you online daters, it’s time to look at your job of dating as a profession. This is one where you should look professional. Or, like someone would want to get to know you first. Because, if the dates are as bad as some of the pictures I’ve browsed through out there… we are all doomed.
