When I was still single, I tried online dating. My friend introduced me to her boyfriend’s cousin and they are both based abroad. It was exciting at first because we were still on the “getting to know you” stage. I was older than him but it’s fine with him, just a few years though. We would chat and then the webcam turned on as well so that we could see each other.

Every day that was our routine. When I get home, we’ll chat first and we were on different time zones so it was sacrifice on his part. It was nice to meet someone with a different background and culture. I learned from him and I talked about the way of living in our country too.

After a few months, he started demanding time from me like I had to be home at a certain time so that we could chat and talk and he would get mad if I didn’t show up on time. Then he admitted he acted that way because he was falling for me and wanted to start a relationship. It was an eye-opener for me. All along I was just getting to know him and and I didn’t know if I wanted something else from him.

As fate would have had it, I got busy at work and we didn’t get to chat as frequently as before. When I get home, I would be too tired to even think of opening my computer. And then, he didn’t call anymore. No more email from him. I think that was it. My friend just told me he went to Argentina and met a new girl there. I thought he was maybe just playing around with me. Or maybe not.
