I enjoy meeting lot of persons, new friends, girls and sometimes dating them especially when I am still a single. Though I admit that once in a while I still go out for a date…with single friends who need company and we go out in a group. I enjoy asking them the reasons why they are still single or do they intend to be single for the rest of their life. My question didn’t annoy them since we had been friends for all time and such questions gave rise to a lot of joke and laughter.

I admire them for they are fully aware of positive and negative effect of being single. Though they plan to settle down if the right partner arrive, they can’t deny the fact that sometimes they ask themselves when. To lighten up things, I try to ask them to the reasons why they are still single or prefer to be single. They capitalize the following reasons:

1. They don’t have time to look for a partner and their priority is the career.
2. They are the one earning for the family who needs their support
3. They haven’t met the right partner
4. They are not in hurry to marry
5. They enjoy life being single

Though they have valid excuses, I want to believe that they are using this to justify their status of being single. Among the reasons they mentioned, I like the reason “they enjoy life being single!” When asked how they enjoy life being single, they immediately raise the following justification:

1. They can do everything they want like going to parties, drinking and gimmicks
2. They can wake-up any time they like and enjoy the silence of their room.
3. They don’t have in-laws to live with,
4. Lesser responsibility compared to married individuals
5.They are responsible for their own expenses
6. They can find time to look for the right partner
7. They can focus on their career.
8. They can save and build wealth
9. They can have male friends without dealing jealousy and suspicion.
10. And many more they said.

With what I heard from my single friends…sometimes I envy them. I now believe if there is a way to enjoy life, which is being single!
