It is hard for a single mom
November 9th, 2008 by jia zhouA friend of mom, she is currently divorced, due to different lifestyle and arguments with her husband. Now, she taking her two children with her, and she is living by paycheck by paycheck. She has a stable job, but she lost her car, due to irreparable reason for her old car. She had spent more than a thousand of dollars to fix her old car; finally, she gave it up. Luckily, her work close to her apartment, she can take a walk to work everyday.
After her divorce, she focus on making more money, and saving her money for the future of her children. She willing to work overtime whenever they require. In that way, she can earn an extra bucks. Since her ex - husband doesn’t pay child support, she has to work her way through. At the first year, she told me, it was tough. She always deficient of cash to pay her rent. Besides food and utility bill, rental fee is her biggest headache. Sometimes, she asked me to lend her a hundred or two hundred for help her through the month. She pay me back when the paycheck comes. Her children go to church every week, in hope of getting some free food or donations from those church goers. I guess she is making all right now. Because the last time I talk to her, she told me that she is doing okay, and she has some saving on her own now.
Being a single mom isn’t that easy. Especially you ex - husband isn’t willing to help you out. You have to work your way around.

I’m a single mom myself. I’m really surprised at the amount of women who think they need a man to help them (financially) raise a child. We have the strength to do it on our own. Best of all, we don’t have to fight with anyone over parenting.
