Out of Devotion
Tags: culture, devotion, servant
I grew up in a culture where a woman should be a plain housewife. One who should serve and cook for the family. I could remember when I was still young, whenever my father will get inside the bathroom to take a shower…. thereafter, he would shout, “Towel…” or “Honey, where’s my brief, my shirt?”
I asked my mother, how could she tolerate it? She said “When you love somebody, you would want to serve him.” That, she was doing it not as an obligation but out of her love and devotion…..”
I don’t know but I totally disagree on that. The way I look at it, she is being treated like a servant.
This is one of the old fashioned ways of our culture……and I don’t understand it, in fact, I hate it.
But now…… this is a thing of the past.
Though if this is still existing, I would rather be single for all my life.
