Single Get Togethers

I recently noticed that there are single get togethers in my local area. I stumbled across this totally by mistake. A friend and I were looking for activities to do (in general, not single related or anything) in my city. I had recently heard about a site called meetup.com that connects you with people of similar interests. I found a singles group here in my city that goes out for drinks, socialization, pool and other activities. I thought this was a good way for singles to meet up and chat. However, I am also concerned that the same population attend these meetings week after week and it has become more of a clique than an actual meet and greet sort of place. Although I am single, this doesn’t appeal to me. That doesn’t mean I don’t think this is a great (and free) opportunity for other singles to get together.
