Here I continue my series on nightclubs to go to in Belfast, with Thompsons. Found right in the city centre, down a side street round the back of City Hall, you feel like you are going somewhere a little different. Unless you know it’s there, you probably wouldn’t discover it. Built in an abandoned warehouse you enter on the top floor and the dancefloor is found downstairs. With its dingyness disguised with overuse of the smoke machine it is not a bad place to go after closing in other clubs in south Belfast, as it stays open until after 3 am. Everyone, even students, always comment that the music is too loud, but one thing that the place must be celebrated for is the fact that it regularly holds nights in which unknown DJs new to the industry ply their trade. If you’re into House music, this is a place you will like, though, more importantly for this blog, it is certainly not a place conducive to meeting anyone, as you most certainly can’t hold a conversation with anyone.

This is for men and women I know that there has been some good things come out of online dating, but what about the bad ones. What about when they don't match up with their pictures? There should be a stiff law against putting up fake pictures, or pictures that are not up to date. I went to meet one and she looked good in her pictures. She looked young maybe in her mid-twenties and was thirty-two, but that wasn't the case when we met. I actually thought that I had introduced myself to the wrong person. The picture online was her's, but taken maybe 5 years and 100 pounds ago. That was a learning experience, but I case it could have been worse. You never know you or what you're talking to online, so watch out and take your chances carefully. If you don't feel comfortable with someone, then there's a reason why, so stay at home. Remember, the internet is a place for a lot of people to be someone they are not.

I recently noticed that there are single get togethers in my local area. I stumbled across this totally by mistake. A friend and I were looking for activities to do (in general, not single related or anything) in my city. I had recently heard about a site called meetup.com that connects you with people of similar interests. I found a singles group here in my city that goes out for drinks, socialization, pool and other activities. I thought this was a good way for singles to meet up and chat. However, I am also concerned that the same population attend these meetings week after week and it has become more of a clique than an actual meet and greet sort of place. Although I am single, this doesn't appeal to me. That doesn't mean I don't think this is a great (and free) opportunity for other singles to get together.
